Syntactic Diversity and Change

Syntactic Diversity and Change (SynDaC) is a research group led by Prof. Pritha Chandra at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. SynDaC members are theoretically-inclined linguists who are also actively engaged in collecting and analyzing data from South Asian Languages, covering mostly Indo-Aryan, Dravidian and Austro-Asiatic families. The team is interested in the questions of how case, phi-feature agreement, classifiers, honorificity etc. vary in typologically related languages and dialects, as well as the effects of contact-induced change on typologically unrelated languages.
